Honda civic 93 DX check engine light on
Hi eveyone,
i was running on really low tank the other day when the check engine
light came on. I am pretty sure that the gas cap was not loose but
through searching the newsgroup I saw that the several people
mentioned low gas volume as well. So I filled it up with 87.
HOwever, I am contionuing to ahve aporblem. The egnine light does not
come on until 20-30 minutes into driving. I changed catalytic
onverter about a year ago. I drove 5-6 times since it first came on
so I am assuming by now the computer would reset it if it was a
problem. Any suggestion s before taking to the mechanic? Should I
reset the computer again by disconnecting the battery?
Many thanks

Pull the code from the ecu. it will tell you exactly whats wrong. find the
small two-pin plug under the dashboard, at the bottom right behind the glove
box. Grab a paperclip, bend it and "jump" the two pins (holes) in the plug.
Then turn on your ignotion, (don't start the engine) and your check engine
light will flash a code. Long "on" means first digit, short "on" means
second digits.
eg. long-long...[pause]... short-short-short-short...[pause]...[repeat].
= CODE 24.
Then look it up in a manual or on the net, or let us know here, and I'm sure
someone can tell ya...
