Honda Accord 98 , Cat Converter
Just had my Accord scanned..Code has been, coming and going. Showed a
P0420.
Catalsyt efficiency below threshold bank 1. A new converter costs 800
dollars. The
service manager, says the cat is comming apart inside. Any advice?
110,000 miles on the speedometer.

I advise you to take it to several different muffler shops and get
estimates on the cost of a now cat. converter. If you can do the work
yourself--visit a magazine shop and buy a copy of a magazine entitled
"Honda Tuning". There should be some ads in the magazine from companies
that offer great deals on cat. converters.

Re: Honda Accord 98 , Cat Converter
Thanks Grumpy for the comeback...I am concerned about the stiff Emission
Control
Inspection in western Pa. Being that it is a LEV vehicle, the aftermarket cat
might not
do the job.
