Stick to name brand oil and make sure it meets the service requirements
spelled out in your users manual and it will be fine. It all comes from the
same dinosaur guts (unless you opt for synthetic). This is a religious
topic. I doubt you will get a single answer to this question.

Re: honda accord 2000 4 cylinders oil change
As the car gets older (50+K miles) you can switch to different brand since
honda brand is expensive.

Re: honda accord 2000 4 cylinders oil change
Oil is defined by a standard which is constantly upgraded.
Current API Service rating was recently upgraded from SJ to SH
and I think is now at SL. That is the first parameter.
Back when oil was rated about SD or SE, some oils could not
maintain viscosity at higher engine speeds. Only two brands
back then were identified as meeting those requirements -
Castrol and Exxon Uniflo. Today, all oils now have solved that
problem. But it demonstrates that better brand names may
exceed SL standards.
Synthetic oil provides no advantage to cars (which is
different from aviation) because synthetic still must be
replaced at same frequency AND it uses smaller molecules to
lubricate compared to conventional oil.

Re: honda accord 2000 4 cylinders oil change
How long do you plan to keep the car? The 5w-20 Honda brand does cost a
little more, but it is also a very well crafted oil that gets great used oil
analysis according to the folks at bobistheoilguy.com. You could buy a
cheaper oil and save $5-8 an oil change, but could prove to be a real false
economy if you intend to keep the ar for a while.
