Gas problem
I just got an 88 civic with just 100k miles on it (like 160kms), its a
hatchback with the B15B2, or the 1.5 with a manual trans. The problem is
that everytime I start it, i can sense a little gasoline smell. The car is
not giving me a lot of miles per galon, and its getting expensive just to go
to school. I just changed the spark plugs (that never were changed. they
were the original ones!!!! ), changed the trans fliud, motor oil, and it is
hard to start after 5-10 mins of driving, it might be the fuel pump, i dont
know. For further info, it is the STD model (the basic) with ac, and some
nice leather seats.
any help would be appreciated.

It's probably a problem related to the carbuator. I suggest that you take
off the air cleaner so that you can carefully watch the carbuator. Place
the emergency brake on and start the car. Leave it in idle and watch the
carbuator. Have a friend press in on the gas petal as you keep watching
the carbuator and lines going to and from the carbuator. You may be able
to find the source of the problem.
