CRX 1990 rear audio speaker brackets- any clues?
We have bought a 1990 CRX which has rear panels and wiring designed for
speakers. Some car audio websites say the standard rear speaker for this car
is a 6 1/2 inch. But it obviously needs an adapter to hold a round speaker,
as the holes and existing plastic brackets behind the trim do not form a 6
1/2 inch circle.
Our Honda dealer could not find any rear brackets in his catalogue. The CRX
and regular Civic has a support bracket in the front door for speakers- can
anyone suggest how we can find one for the back that will not involve a lot
of redrilling of holes?

Your dealer appears to be an idiot.
I bought the brackets from my dealer I believe... but anyway, you can
probably get them at http://www.crutchfield.com or your local Circuit
City/Good Guys.

Chances are Honda just discontinued them. I'd call local junkyards
first. I have an 88 CRX and I bought mine at a junkyard. Or else
just cut them out of aluminium or steel.

I made mine for a 89 CRX out of sheetmetal using metal shears and a
nibbling tool (available at Radio Shack or Home Depot for about $15).
You can also pick them up on Ebay occasionally for about $40. The
sheetmetal approach will cost you about $5, excluding any tool
purchase.
