We have a 2002 CRV that we love, but the tires that came on the car are
wearing down after about 30,000 miles. Even when new, they were not great
for traction in the snow, all wheel drive and all. We will be replacing them
soon and are wanting to get something with a little more grip in the snow,
without getting snow tires that won't be functional the rest of the year.
Any suggestions?

Absolutely. The Nokian WR. http://www.nokiantires.com It's
all-season--the only all-season tire from a manufacturer that otherwise
makes SERIOUS snow tires--and it has the Severe Service rating, complete
with the snowflake and mountain marking. But for all that, it's a great
overall road tire.

I *love* this tire. I got it about a month ago, and this past week had
the opportunity to see it at work in the snow. It's quiet on dry
pavement, handles great, and tackles the snow like nobody's business. I
expected that, given their heritage, but still.

last couple months the tires seem to be wearing. I plan to replace mine
sometime in the Spring. The main two I am interested in are the
GoodYear Regatta 2 and the GoodYear Assurance tires. The best price
I've found them for so far have been walmart.

I hear Toyo or Yokohama are both very good tires.

I had Goodyears on my Dakota and Jeep Commanche Pickup
in the past. M +S all season. They wear very slow and have a stiffer
ride. You will feel the bumps in the road. The tires wear very slow.
I got about 60,000 miles out of them before I rotated front to rear.
I dont know how they would wear or ride on the CRV as I am
new to the vehicle.

I've had 30,000 miles on Michelin HydroEdge. Great all around and not bad in
snow. Of course, I don't cross country. These tires are on a 2002 CR-V EX.
They are far better than anything I've had before on wet/watery roads.

I've had 30,000 miles on Michelin HydroEdge. Great all around and not bad in
