Pretty much likewise for my 1991 Civic. The gauge won't move fully below the
"Full mark" until 100 miles sometimes. The half tank mark is hit between 200 and
300 miles, in general. I get about 440 miles between fillups in warm weather.
There's at least a gallon of gas still in the tank at most fillups, so
theoretically the car could get about 480 miles per tank between fillups.

I monitor my gas mileage for the same reason older people monitor their blood
pressure: It's not a bad measure of the overall health of the vehicle.

So, yes, record miles between fillups, save your gas receipt to show the gallons
used, and calculate mpg each time. Maybe jot it down in a notebook or on a
sheet, with the month and year.
