changing oil! still some Qs
I want to change the oil for my civic 2001, i bough 4L of Quaker State
5W-20, is it good oil? Do I need more than 4L, the manual did not see how
much do I need? Also what is the size of the drain bolt? is it metric or
standard? I went to Canadian tire and they told me Honda use metric, but
they told me what is the size? I am going to use my honda jack to left the
car? I might ask for Toyota Camery jack too to left the car from other size
too or use them from one side. I know it is a challenge but I want to save
money and time and to learn too. So I am going to do it, hope I am going to
do it right. Thanks for all the help you have been giving me, you guys just
greet.

Where in the world did you find 5w-20? I would use at least 5w-30. Should
say so in either your owner's manual or on a sticker under the hood.
Go and buy some jack stands, to put under the car when you jack it up,
those emergency jacks are not the most sturdy things in the world.
It might be 17mm for that drain bolt...

5W20 should be fine. The drain bolt is metric, 15, 16 maybe 17 mm. Get a
new washer. Try to do the job without jacking th car up. I have an Acura
and don't need to jack up the car, but I do need to turn the tire so I can
reach the filter and see the drain bolt.

No offense, but if I took your advice 20 years ago someone else would be
changing my oil now. Those were some of the questions I would have
asked.
One usually doesn't know how difficult or easy a task is until one
tries. Sometimes it can be expensive :-).

I am pretty sure the manual for a 2001 Honda Civic 5W20 is the
recommended oil.

you need to use the jackstands, after the car is lifted. do NOT crawl under
a car supported by 2 different cheap worm-drive tire changing jacks.
