Hi,
I bought a Honda Accord 2000 SE yesterday, But I didnt receive any
maintenace record on this car. My question is: Can a Mechanic find out what
kind of maintenaces (like transmission oil) has been done on this car?
at what millage I have to replace Engine belt?

The seller told me the car has no accident, and showed me stickers with VIN
number on doors and other places, so is that good enough to make sure about
collision on this car?

The only shop that might be able to tell you this is the one where the car was
serviced in the past. Do you know where this shop is?

If the previous owner used more than one shop to maintain his car, you're
probably out of luck.

I assume you mean the engine timing belt.

Did you get an owner's manual with this car? It will say when the timing belt is
supposed to be changed. Look in the index under "maintenance schedule."

If you do not have an owner's manual try the contact info at
http://www.hondacars.com/info/customer_relations.asp to see about obtaining an
owner's manual.

According to the Honda site
https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/login.asp?brand=honda, for a FOUR cylinder Honda
Accord Se it's 105k miles or 7 years, whichever comes first. I didn't see a
specification for SIX cylinder 2000 Accords, but this particular site is
notorious for omitting maintenance frequencies of timing belts and is therefore
garbage as far as I'm concerned.

Keep checking back here. Someone will probably post the info from their own 2000
Accord Se owner's manual for you.

I know car dealers that have service shops have another way of checking. Their
way uses official government-required reports. Call your nearest Honda dealer
and ask them if they'll check for you, as a courtesy to you, a new "used Honda"
owner. They'll want the VIN to do the check. They'll go onto the internet to a
certain site that I don't think is open to the general public right now.

Does the car have a dealer sticker on it? Or can you ask the seller where he
bought it, and/or had it serviced? You should be able to find out through
Honda's system, what has been done to it, regarding maintenance.

done at any dealer comes up in all their service dept. computers.

How many miles are on it? If its not a huge amount, I'll bet nothing has
been done to except maybe oil changes. If you don't have the owners manual,
you can register the car on the Honda website owner's link. It has a
maintenance schedule.

I think if you have already bought the car, it is too late to be worrying
about past collisions. If you find evidence of one, can you get your money
back? If not, why do you want to know?

I went to this site and entered the VIN# but it doesnt like it, it says its
an invalid VIN#, is that because I am in Canada?
