hello all, i have a 1998 civic EX, manual tranny less than 50,000 miles,
that will not start in cold weather below 15F. i have replaced the
alternator,starter, and battery. i dont have a crazy system or any heavy
pull on the electrical system. can anyone help, i dont want to spend
anymore money for useless repairs. thanks.

Look to see if the normal warning lights (alternator, oil pressure, etc.)
come on in the "run" position when the engine won't crank. If not, I'd
suspect the ignition switch. Cold weather often brings out the worst in
them. The failure can be confirmed - we can hope - by heating the switch
with a hair dryer when the car fails.

You mean to say the engine doesn't even spin at all, or it spins but
doesn't start? Please elaborate . . Tell us everything you're seeing /
hearing when you get in the car and turn the key to the II and then III
positions. Are you careful to hold the clutch pedal down far enough?

Please let us know whether or not the cooling system has 50 percent water
and 50 percent antifreeze. If not, you need to drain the cooling system
and make it happen. Buy the antifreeze from the Honda dealership to be on
safe side since some brands of antifreeze don't work well in Honda cars.
Vehicles don't start well when the water is frozen or has ice particles in
it.

What do you mean with it not starting? Is the car turning but not
"catching"?
