97 Prelude - low mileage - timing belt replacement?
Just wanted to get your thoughts on the following maintenance items. I have
a 97 Prelude with 64,000 km and the recommended interval for the
following is 84months/168,000 km
Replace Spark Plugs
Replace Timing Belt
Replace Timing Balancer Belt
Replace Water Pump
If it was your car, would you have the work done?
Thanks

It would depend a lot if you're in Alaska or Panama. Without knowing
what conditions the vehicle has been used in, some things are mandatory,
some are discretionary. Some are probably missing too.....

Thanks Curly. I'm in Ottawa, ON - hot summers, cold winters. I'm getting the
t-belt, balancer belt and water pump done - $525 CA at the dealer. I
figure pocket change compared to having the belt go.

You have chosen wisely, Grasshopper. You might consider checking the
PCV, or just get it changed. A bad PCV can screw up your fuel mileage or
put your oil consumption thru the cieling.
Your manual will confirm the interval for service.
