Re: 97 Honda civic dx timing belt
I just paid $435 for timing and counter shaft and all drive belts and
water pump and antifreeze on a'95 Accord LX 4 cyl. I've been letting it
go till 100,000 miles. A local Honda mechanic who just went into
business for himself did it. bob

Re: 97 Honda civic dx timing belt
Honda suggests doing it at 90,000 miles or 6 years whatever comes first. I
paid about $600 at the dealer. That included the timing belt, a new water
pump, and new serpantine belt as well.

I just got mine changed earlier this month @ 6+ years/103.7k miles (97 Civic
EX). I bought the water pump from hparts.com (around $45) and brought it to
the dealer for them to put on. They replaced all the drivebelts at the same
time and re-filled with Honda AF.
Total cost from dealer: $236.43. They also lubed my clutch, gave me an oil
and filter change, and installed an exhaust finisher at no additional
charge. Good dealer!
