97 Civic LX Keyless entry
My keyless entry started acting up, I called the dealer and they told
me about the reset button on the face of the factory radio. Previous
owners had a new radio installed and the installers pushed the OEm
radio down inside after removing the faceplate(no reset button). I
bought another radio, installed the security module and the system
acted like before until I pressed the reset button. All seemed normal
but now the remote does nothing. I checked the batteries on both
remotes, resync’d the remote but still nothing. I disconnected the
battery, I reset the radio again (I can hear the door locks activate
when I do that) but still nothing.
Any ideas??

The keyless entry receiver has to be programed to respond to the code
transmitted by your remote. The replacement receiver you bought would
not be programmed to your key fob, thus the keyless entry does not
work. You can find the procedure for reprogramming the receiver at

Thanks for the info, however the programming steps still did not solve
my dilemma.

Apparently, installing an aftermarket radio on a 96 - 98 Civic causes
problems not only with keyless entry but with the dome light as well.
Does this help you at all?
