'96 Accord EX suspension issues
The car is out of alignment and vibrates at speeds over 60 mph. Local tire
guys tell me it is the struts and would be at least $300 plus to fix. I'm
trying to avoid the service center at the dealer. Does anyone know if the
price sounds right on the repairs?

1. get it aligned.
2. get the wheels re-balanced. [should be free if you return to the
lace where you bought the tires].
3. /then/ worry about the shocks. [this car has wishbones, not struts.]

Thanks for the response. I have done 1. That is when they pointed out on
some fancy machine the red LED display that read "-1.2" or something like
that and then tried to sell me on the idea of struts.
Left prior to getting 2 done because I wanted to be sure of what they are
telling me, which according to your number 3, I wasn't even getting the
right info and they may have been trying to bilk me?

that "1.2" number means nothing unless you spell out what it is. you
should have had a readout from the alignment telling you.
next step is getting the wheels balanced, regardless of anything else.
no amount of suspension work can cure unbalanced wheels.
if you don't like the people that have done the work so far, shop around
for someone else!
