Re: 1995 Civic-Started using oil
May need new valve guides (seals). Have a mechanic inspect your car. Have
you changed oil weights or brands? The important thing with oil is to stay
consistent with both brand and weight. Yours should take 5w30. I recommend
either Havoline or Exxon (Superflo). Those are the two I've used in my 1990
Civic and they have worked well for me. (I used Havoline the most)

Re: 1995 Civic-Started using oil
A few easy possibilities:
1. Is the exterior of the engine covered with oil? If so, your valve cover
gasket or grommets may simply need replacement.
2. When's the last time you replaced the PCV valve? If it's clogged, it will
tend to overpressurize the crankcase, likewise overpressuring various engine
seals like the oil pan gasket, and causing oil to leak out. Replace the PCV
valve. Clean off engine. Monitor for "blown seals" due to previous
overpressurization.
If you see no evidence of mere leakage (like on the engine or on the floor
beneath the car where it's parked), start investigating the condition of the
pistons, etc. for excessive oil burning, as others no doubt will be suggesting
here.

A sudden onset of oil consumption usually follows running the engine out
of oil, or the PCV is stuck OPEN, sucking the oil vapour out of the
crankcase. It's an inexpensive part, and easy to replace yourself, on
the '95.
