|The light output of my 95 civic was poor. I have upgraded the wiring with
|HELLA relays according to the (already mentioned) DS's site. The light
|output with the stock bulbs was noticeably better. Don't buy blue tinted
|bulbs. I now run 100/90W clear bulbs and have no problems with melting
|lamps (although I run Narva 60/55W 48881 clear bulbs during the summer).
|Light output now is good.
I give up: Why do you change to lower wattage in the summer?

OK, I know what I do is stupid but the lamps get hot with the 100W bulbs. I
can touch the lamps during the winter but they are too hot to touch during
the summer. In order not to melt or deform them I use the wattage the lamps
were designed for. Changing the bulbs also requires some aiming adjustment
but practice makes perfect and I can change the bulbs and aim them in 5' or
so.
