I really don't trust the Fram - even with Honda's stricter requirements. The cardboard endcaps and cheezy bypass valve. I'd use a Champion Labs filter before that. Champion Labs produce for different brands, including Mobil 1, Champ, ACDelco (some but not all), Bosch, STP/Deutch, and Tech2000 (Wal-Mart house brand). I was able to get 4 of the 15400-PR3-014 (Toyo Roki) filters a couple of years ago. I probably should have bought more, since the dealer never had them after that one. Filtech is owned by Toyo Roki BTW. And slightly off-topic, I just got a Subaru Impreza WRX, and the it uses a tiny (and more expensive) Toyo Roki. Something about the standard Subaru filter gets too close to the turbo. |

These are definitely genuine Brembo with branded packaging and stamped on the rotor. I'm hoping they won't corrode as bad as the originals but they can't be worse and no way I'd pay the ~$200. for the Acura parts. In my driving lifetime (39 years behind the wheel and counting), the only oil filter failure I have ever experienced was an AC filter on a '96 Honda (the bypass failed and the engine forced all the oil out past the gasket onto the road). www.thepartsbin.com carries both Nippon and Denso brand oil filters for
Hondas and other Japanese cars. Has anyone used these? Presently I use either a PureOne or Wix filter for my Accord as I also don't trust the construction methods of Fram filters. John |
