Hello everyone....

I need some help. Two years ago my gas gauge stopped working and the dealer
replaced the entire instrument cluster. In doing so the odometer was reset
back to zero. They put a hand written sticker on the door saying the
original miles, date, and dealership name.

Now it is trade-in time (at a different dealer) and I'm shocked to learn my
car is close to worthless cause they can't certify the mileage. Anyone have
any suggestions or ideas. How do I "certify" the mileage?

In Canada, the instructions, and form, are in the first couple pages of
your owner's manual.

The work order would prove the mileage at the time of the instalation of
the part, and the dealer can reprint your invoice YEARS later, in some
circumstances.

Try to sell it yourself. If you have the reciept for the work done and the
sticker is in place, I am sure you will find someone that will take your
word for it and give you close to what it is realy worth. Or at least trade
in value.

dealer's trying to rip you off. [surprise?]

you have the receipts. you should have also registered the odometer
change with dmv [or your original dealer should have], so the law
provides for situations like yours. call your local consumer affairs
t.v. show & tell them your story. they'll go to bat for you.

Thank you everyone for your responses...

Since we have only 9 months left on the lease we decided to keep the car and
return it at lease end. The odometer issue will then be the leasing
companies problem! Besides, sounds like the 2005 Pilot will be even better
then the 2004 so the wait will be well worth it.
