why is my honda civic chirping?
my honda has starting making this chirping noise when the air conditioning is running. i don't notice when i'm driving, but when i pull up next to a wall or other cars, i can hear it clearly.what causes this noise and what do i need to do to fix it.it's not the brakes. i know that noise.

one problem and several points of interest. The first thing to check would be the Idler pulley. When it has a load on it the lube has wore out and the barring is burning -up this will cause your sound and 2 the same thing could be the A/C clutch bearing, Now the 3rd thing could be that your fan belt has wore out or has stretch out and you may just need too adjust it. 4Th and final could be the same thing for that alternator belt. When the electrical draw of the A/C is on the, belt is chirping and needs to be adjusted to factory specs, with Eng off, You should not be able to twist the belt more the 45% if so it is to loose. If its not the belt you may use a long probe and touch one side to a unit and the other to the side of your face closest to your ear lobe to detect the sound. But not into your ear you could cause medical damage to the ear. and make sure you keep the probe away from the moveing belts and pullys. Be safe and good luck.
