depends on the maintenance performed, mileage, condition of the interior/exterior/accidents, etc. If all maintenance has been performed and the muffler is the biggest concern sounds ok to me. Strictly A-B driving, errands etc. As for cost of muffler, depends. If I had to guess I'd say about $100, parts and labor. You might just want to see if they can weld a patch over the hole, might be cheaper, it is after all a $500 dollar car and nobody sees underneath. Try to see if it can ber patched instead of buying a new muffler.

You have things to decide....how much money do you want to spend on a 13 year old car??? How many miles on it, what is the general conditon of the vehicle.......first of all forget about patching an exhaust system...that is stupid and another spot will break through sooner or later......go to Midas and have a new exhaust system installed....also remember that parts for japanese cars are hard to come by and very expensive......most of them are strictly dealer supplied and they will rape you blind on prices.....
Again how much money do you want to spend on a $500 car????
