How much longer do you think my 2001 Honda Civic will last?
I'm the only owner of the car and have had three major accidents on that car. Everything is repaired and it's as good as new. I have a lot of miles on the car though. I have 150,000 miles and the dealer is telling me that I need to replace my engine mounts and get a new timing belt. Costs for those repairs is about $1200. Should I just sell the car or do you think the car will be as good as new after I fix these problems?

Can you buy another 01 Civic with new motor mounts and timing belt for $1200? Better yet, go to a repair shop that specializes in JApaneese imports and get their price and then decide.I used to drive an 89 Stanza and I did a couple of repair jobs that were in the $500-$800 range (timing belt, mounts) just because that's what you have to do to keep the older car running comfortably. The timing belt is something you must replace - cause if it breaks it'll cost a whole lot more to undo the damage. The motor mounts will help your car run more comfortably, too.Unless you have about $20k to buy a new one I think I'd just keep this one. Personally, since it is only a 2001, I would just do the repair work and keep on going. Honda Civics are iron horses, you can't beat them.
