Civic that has never had AC? My little Honda is the best car ever but I NEED air conditioning! I'm wondering if it's less expensive to simply install it in my current car than to try looking for a new car.

Go buy a different car. You can get a decent Civic or even an Accord for less than what it will cost to put a/c in a car that has never had it. When I moved to a southern state I thought about doing this too, until I got some estimates and practically died from heart attack. Took the old car farther north and sold it to someone who did not care, and bought a used car with a/c. lots cheaper.

Air conditioning will probably be about $800 to install. If air conditioning is that important, buy a new car. If you like you're car though except for the air conditioning thing, deal with it. I have a '96 hatchback without air conditioning. It stinks to be stuck in traffic on the highway, but as long as the windows are down, I'm good. It's really not as bad as it would seem. I'm silly though - I adore my car more than anything. I haven't found anything (even newer civics) that drive quite like it. I've worn it down to the way I like it - too much effort to break in a new one to my specifications.
