2002 Honda Civic LX is smoking near the catalytic converter. Any suggestions?

Hi, I have a 2002 Honda Civic LX with 28,000 miles and there is a little smoke coming from the engine. It looks as if it is coming from the catalytic converter, but I can't tell for sure. It also smells like burning rubber. Has anyone else had a similar problem? What was it and how can I fix it?
