2000 Honda Civic makes a gargling sound when I step on accelerator HELP!?
Its a manual trans, when i put it into 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear it makes rough gargling sound, the beat goes faster as my engine revs up, very confusing is that sometimes it doesnt make that sound especially when im turning or in 1st gear.... mechanic looked at it and said its the gear bushings inside the transmission, but then said i dont have to change it until is gets much worse??? oh and the sound doesnt come in 4/5th gear
any ideas what it could be? or what should i do? I was quoted to get a new transmission for $700
Moreover, when the car is first started, no noise from engine, then obviously when put into gear and drive the noise comes and after a drive when the car is stopped again the noise is there but weak and disappears when the clutch is pressed
oh by the way, i have a lexus too pa

I have a 2000 Civic Hatchback with a manual transmission. While it is quick to stall when shifting from reverse into first, I haven't had any problems like that. You might want to get a second opinion from another mechanic.
