07 civic si rpms go up when i let of the clutch to change gears?
when im in 2nd or 3rd and want to go to the next gear, when i push the clutch in to change gears the rpms go up a little until the gears are changed. this only happens when i accelerate on the car faster than normal. is this normal..

Either your right foot is not getting off the gas fast enough (or maybe just not all the way off), or your injectors are still pumping fuel after you lift. This can be pretty hard on the clutch and gearbox, but it's pretty common - manufacturers do it deliberately to reduce emissions. A way around it (sometimes - it takes practice) is to push gently on the gearshift in anticipation of the change. Then back off the gas and the shifter will pop into neutral once the load is removed from the gearbox - since there is no load, the engine must be slowing down at that time. THEN push on the clutch and complete the shift. I know this sounds kinda slow, but with practice, it can be pretty fast, as well as saving your synchro rings and clutch. And since the revs will match sooner, it can actually give you a faster shift once you're used to it.Good luck!

hey steve, i had the same problem. you might want to be extra aware about your right foot... maybe heavy/slow to get off especially when shifting fast. you might also try moving your seat back a notch or so. this forces your foot/leg to go back more when shifting gears. hope you're having fun with your Si as much as I am.
