(UK people only) Would a honda civic type-r be a good first car?

if you can afford that as a first car you are very lucky!
it depends on your age as if under 25 the insurance would be expensive and difficult to get otherwise I see no issue.
My first car was 22 years old! and a rust bucket. think how lucky you are and perhaps it might be better to start with a cheaper car and save for a home (its a very good time to buy now) and get a better car once you have more experience and get better insurance deals.

No, it would not.
The type R has the Honda racing class engine. Although not as powerful as a racing car, it is more powerful than your ordinary everyday driving car.
As a first car, this car could be too much for a new driver to handle, as well as too tempting to burn it up down the high street and risk losing your licence, hitting a pedestrian or worse!
Honda Civic is a decent car, but the type-R is just too much power for a new driver.
