PICS: Most expensive NSX yet (NSX-R GT)

TOKYO — Honda is successfully campaigning its NSX coupe (Acura NSX in the U.S.) at the GT championship in Japan. Now it is translating the victories to street cred with the introduction of a special-edition model based on the GT racer. The NSX-R GT is guaranteed to be exclusive: Only five will be built and each will cost a cool half-million.

Technically, there's not much difference from the normal NSX-R; it's powered by the same 280-horsepower, 3.2-liter V6. However, there are a few carbon-fiber parts, which guarantees better handling and makes the car look like a Transformer: a huge air intake behind the rear window in 1970s racer style, a front apron and an underbody diffuser.

Order lines are open until March 22; the cars will be built in August.

What this means to you: Living in the U.S., we dream from a distance. Living in Japan, dreams can come true.

Your eyes don't deceive you. A nice 1/2 $Million for a 280hp NSX.

Koenigsegg anyone?

Anyone who is willing to pay $500,000 for an NSX with some carbon fiber is :supergay:. It'll never become a collectors car because it's too common with the production version. Carbon Fiber, yay.

I call BS on the price.

that looks like a regular NSX-R with intake option, that intake has been an option on NSX-R for almost 2 yrs.

At $140 000 CDN I thought it was already outdated and obscenely overprices, but $500 000 and all you get are some carbon fenders!!!!!

What a POS!

Exactly right, The Z-Tune is a Gem though, I have a model of it, damn fine piece of machinery.

Honda releases the NSX-R GT

I geuss something was lost in the translation though.... because 280 horsepower does NOT equal 500 horsepower.
You see Honda always does things half-assed. They released the new Civic SIR and had the means and power to make it a "Type R" for all those ricers over here with some different tuning and a few different parts. Nah, SIR is good enough. They changed the Integra to the RSX, but didn't bring in the Type R name, Type S is good enough. They build a grand touring sedan called the RL which has the "best AWD system" on the market at the time of release and some video magazine has it beating up on an R34 GTR on the track. Honda doesn't strip it down and come out with a racier version of it, the RL is good enough. Honda even cancelled the HSC concept (next NSX) because they decided they didn't want to build a sports car anymore, instead deciding to build a grand-touring coupe to compete with Mercedes and BMW.

They get some performance, but it's kinda like the little retard who could. He colours in his colouring book and colours all the main parts of the picture, but then gets distracted by what he's accomplished and instead decides to sit around and grab his crotch and drool rather than complete coloring the background.

What's next? Mazda goes to MoneyMart, pulls a cash advance (because they're broke) and starts buying up FD RX7's for a remake of a limited edition?

As sick as that would be.... The Japanese are up to something odd...
It'd be interesting to see a RX7 Bathurst Special Edition. It'll never happen though. Those rotaries are just to unreliable to remanufacture a car on the premise that it's better.

Could that Lexus supercar become a reality? Could they be fearing the new supra?!
I sincerely hope so. Toyota/Lexus have nothing right now, nothing. MR-S/MR-2 Gone., Celica - Gone, or gone soon, They never ended up coming out with the IS300 with the 4.3L V8.

I drove by a Toyota place on the way to Bolton the other day, there's nothing on the lot I would pay money for, same goes with Lexus, the new SC is nice, but it's not the same as the old SC300 and 400.

With $500,000 I can think of a ton of cars I would rather buy then an NSX.

i don't know what you're talking about.

all i meant by saying Koenigsegg was the CCR. It has a mid-mounted S/C Ford V8, so I don't know about your turbo charger reference either.
