Odd vibration/noise in 2004 Accord EX V6

Hey there,

I'm new to the forum and was hoping that someone could provide me with some insight or direction. I just purchased my 2004 Accord EX V6 at the end of my 4 year lease with 101,500 kms on it. On the evening my car was scheduled to go back, I noticed that it started making a noise (almost a light grinding sound) and a vibration on acceleration. It seemed to do it right at the RPM's just before a shift in gear, which led me to think it was a transmission issue.

I took the car to my local garage - they thought it might be transmission and wanted to bring someone in to look at it. I took it to a transmission specialist and he did not believe it was trasmission, but was not sure and suggested leaving it there for an extended check. I then went to a Honda Dealership and paid $150 for the following diagnosis, which makes no sense to me:

"Road tested vehicle. Slight vibration is coming from right side of vehicle-scan vehicle for possible codes none found - exchange driveshaft from another vehicle noise still evident - upon further inspection did notice impact to front pipe which is causing noise:, pipe has slight damage pipe was hit will need to start with front pipe possible other problems. Is not causing any damage to car $660.16 to replace-customer to decide*Parts will need to be special ordered****"

I do not remember driving over anything a couple of days ago, when the noise started.

Also of note, the noise/vibration only happens under load.

I bought this car expecting it would be a cost effective car for me to drive for the next year or two - I really don't want it to turn into a money pit. Does the dealership explanation seem reasonable?
