just a question about a turbo on a b16a1

i was thinking of puttin a turbo on my b16a1 this summer... nothing big or fancy or anything of that sort, just somthing to boot around in for 1 - 2 yrs before i get rid of it for somthing else.(body is a 90 so ill be gettin rid of her soon, just wanted to have some more fun for the last yr i had her) the car runs about 165 - 170hp right now, so im looking to get it to 220 230ish hp + if possible and that would be it, no further modds after that, just a stock boost (im guessing this can be done with what... 5psi?)

Whats the cheapest setup to achieve this power thats not ssautochrome material?

for this power would an IC be required? i know its a good idea, just wondering if its a MUST?

The car currently has a 2 1/4 catback, will that be big enough?

pretty much what am i going to need and what am i going to be spending to get the power listed above

thanks in advance for your help

If Your B16 Makes About 160-170 All Motor You Should Be About To Make 220 With About 6 Psi. But You Will Need A Intercooler. You Can Run With Out It But Then You Need More Psi To Make That Kind Of Power. It All Depends On The Type Of Tuning That You Are Going To Use. Fmu, Chip Or Standalone.

FIRST OFF:: I actually read a pretty good article on home made turbos over at toronto civics, when it comes to turbos i dont know much and i found this to be fairly easy to understand and quite helpful so here it is if any of u want it honda/acura turbo

now more questions

well as i stated before i dont wanna throw too much money into it. with the types of tunning u listed, are there any (for this power) that would be better?

does anyone have any expeirence with a homemade turbo kit here? and can justify it actually being that cheap and work just as well?

annnndd one more quesiton. would an increase in psi 6 up to 7 be good for a motor that has 140k (mostly highway) its been very well maintained and as far as the actual engine goes, ive never had a problem.

thanks again for ur help

My Motor Had 150 On It When I Put A Turbo On It. It Was Fine. And Not There Is No Better Way To Tune The Car Then Iwhat I Listed Except Fmu And Retard Timing. You Would Need 290 Cc Injectors At Least Thought With The Fmu. And My Kit Is A Homemade Kit But I Spent Alot On The Parts To Make Sure That It Was Done Right The First Time. But You Can Do A Set Up For About $1500 With Ic And Everything. But I Rebuilt My Motor Just Recently Because It Wore Down.
