Hydrolock Maybe??
Well I was driving in the rain last night. Never happened before to me until i put my new bumper on. It pretty much leaves the AEM CAI air filter in plain sight (which i didnt realize till now). So I was guessing that since i was driving in the rain, the rain was comming through the hole and pretty much soaking down my exhaust. Now i was just cruising down the road to get to Wal-mart and engine just all of a sudden bogs down and shuts off. So i put on my 4-ways and pull into a parking lot. I wait a little bit while i'm freaking out in the pouring rain.
So i start up my car and a bit of white smoke/steam come out of my exhaust which didn't calm my nerves at all. When i said i was cruising i was taching at about 2200 RPM. So i get to Wal-mart and buy poster board and pretty much box off my filter. So I'm like trying to get home and if i took it up to 3000RPM it would start to bog again. So i keep it at around 2k PRM pretty much the whole way home. So anyways i go out today and my car drives and runs pretty ok and I take it down the road and go to tach out once and the engine felt really weak like it wanted to tach off at 4k RPM. So i try it again and when i hit 4k RPM again the car pulls down to about 3750 RPM and sounds like a backfire and then lets loose to about 5k RPM
So I let the engine vent by pulling out the spark plugs and also spraying a little WD-40 in the chamber. I started up and reved it and it would seem to tach out at 5k RPM instead of redline...
After my elaborate story. It is possible that I had a little but of sitting water in there this morning? If so i took out the spark plugs and sprayed some WD-40 and let it vent for a little bit. And is it still possible that I might have bend a connecting rod or did some minor/major damage to my engine?
To add after first answer? what about it only taching at 5k RPM when it would normally tach at 6k RPM?? Think a sensor when bad in the process?

If you hydro locked your engine it would not run, plain and simple. You would have to take it apart and clean it out if you did; so you can rule that out. It is probably fine, run some Seafoam through the intake vacuum lines and that should do it.
