How can I modify a Honda Civic Hatch and make it not look like a "Ricer"?
I just got a 95' Civic(white) and I want to modify it but it seems all civics are labled as "Ricers". I dont know anything about tuning cars but I was thinking of keeping it simple by just adding a skunk exhaust, black wheels, black hood, and a couple things in the engine..and I was also thinking about lowering it some.Do you think it will appear as a ricer if I keep the modifications simple as what I just explained....I really wanted a WRX but I just got out of High School and just started working so I got the cheapest car I could find to get me from place to place.

Apexi SAFC $100 ebay sometimes..
Install insructions available on Apexi web site, looks cool as F*** and can give you a Little extra power. SUS air filter, scorpion exhaust, black wheel are OK, black bonnets are not unless they are carbon. de badge, Hella rally headlights 100w multi colour like Audi.. lower by an inch, 12"sub 2 6x9s one 4 channel 800 amp and off ya go !

its not only how your car looks that gives you the title of "ricer" it also has to do with how you drive the car as well...now if your hatch has the 1.5l in it and treat it like its a v-8 and think you can beat anything.....thats a ricer. no matter what you do to your car, theres always something faster out there.
now on to your list or plans if you want to call them. by the way you explained it, you on the right track. keep things simple on the outside of the car. no bodykits at all!!! there gay as hell and look like ***.....no matter what they are. now as for dress up on the out side, you could do a spoon duckbill, and front and rear lip kit, maybe some rota slips or other black wheels (but please keep them in the 15-16" in. range. 17s are way too big and put a tramendous amount of stress on your suspension components. but thats about the extent that you want to go on the outside. as for the motor.....whatever you want to do there is fine. swap it, boost it, or both. doesnt matter....but im sure you would be fine with just a simple gsr swap or an h22a swap in there. get the idea of a k20a out of your head. they are hard to do and very expensive to do as a swap. ive been doin this line of work since 96......and all i have to say is its your car, what looks good to you should be all that matters.
