Difference Between Cold-air and short ram?

I'm not sure what i have as the internet has me all confused. From what i know is a short ram stays near the engine and a cold-air goes down under your battery where the air is coldest away from engine heat. BUT ive seen them look so similar AND MIXED UP.Cold-air intake- http://www.alerospeed.com/cold_air_i...-intake.jpgAND THIS ?????? http://munno.net/honda/intake1.jpgshort ram- http://perso.orange.fr/power.design/...2088-91.jpgthe AEM on my Prelude looks ALOT like the short ram pic but the guy who sold it to me called it a cold air. CAN A COLD AIR LOOK THIS SIMILAR TO A SHORT RAM AND STILL BE CONSIDER A COLD-AIR INTAKE?P.S. I do get VERY good speed after 80 mph and before 110.
