depends on the condition of the motor, does it smoke, use any oil, burn any fluids anything like that? a well maintained motor will live a long time. my old motor with about 220 k on it saw a ton of spray and when i had a sensor problem that ended up in a melted plug with a broken vvale my bottom end was still spotless. car was using no oil at all. so if its in good condition id go for it

if everything judges has mentioned is a go then that is a good indiction the engine is healthy. I would also do a both wet and dry compression test. Wouldn't hurt to do a leakdown afterwards depending on compression test results.

sohcs are a dime a dozen anyways so you can just laugh it off if one manages to let go. Also take it as this is a good time for you to gain expereince and knowledge so as judges said the next one can be even more badass.

what is everyone's opinion on vtec + boost? pointless?
on the y8, would you be better off disconnecting vtec solenoid?
from what i've read, d's are awesome with boost and they produce awesome torque! new internals and you'll be laughin
