Anyone ever had been threatened by a cop who pulled you over about taking your vehicle? how'd you respond?

how do you get away from heavy mods like engine swaps and all other illegal parts?

how do you gets get pass through e-tests and inspection?

just a starter wondering how things work for you guys.

Well first off you shouldnt have illegal parts... I thought that was just a gimme Second ask them what the reason is. Third if they ask to search your car ask if they have a warrent *may only apply in america sorry im not sure* Forth, if you're getting pulled over for looking fast you better hope it is fast and you could out run 'em but i wouldt suggest that

I got pulled over once for doing a burnout in a parking lot. Unmarked cruiser was across the street. Anyhow, 10 minutes later i left the lot and he followed me out. my buddy in a vette seen me and pulled up beside me at the lights, the unmarked was lurking behind us. Soon as the light went green and he heard us take off he lit it up and flew into oncoming.

The guy with the vette had no insurance on it (i found out later) and i got pulled over. He said he was going to take my car etc etc. I was scared naturally, but i deserved it. I pretty much said "what can i say, you got me... did it look good"

He didn't respond, went through the process, let me off, sent the tow truck away and just before leaving he said "didn't look too bad"
LOL

He was super cool, i was dumb and broke the law. I had no excuse and didn't even defend myself.

Ive never been yanked for emissions in the mustang. In fact, in the mustang i get less eyes from the police than in my Prelude.
All my cars pass 100% legit.

Its the insurance company **** you gotta worry about. Yes, the police are out to get people who mod their vehicle, but theyre easy to deal with. Its the ****** at the insurance co's

Well, my car was insured back in the day with mods.

I looked at buying a new car and insuring it last year with the company and they said they wouldn't touch any car with mods now. I was like "hrmmmm"

Insurance companies are crooks. They always look out for themselves, regardless how much you pay them.

Well I guess I'll have to ask my insurance company about insuring a car with mods before I start doing anything..

but i get pulled over for being younge and driving what i drive, the past week alone i got pull over 3 or 4 times, they always look for faults and never catch any, honestly your best bet is to be a LEGIT as possible, not saying my car is fully legit , no horn hahah.

What got stolen?

If it was after market parts I can see them not paying to replace them and just paying the price it would cost to replace them for stock parts. My insurance policy says something along the lines that they will only cover 1500 worth of upgraded parts, including engine and body. and i think $500 in radio/stereo equipment

They way I got around that is to tell them you bought the car that way. It usually works, I've gotten $1000+ stereo replaced with not 1 receipt because "thats how I bought the car" It worked for me.

I think generally they will pay to replace the stock parts and thats all.

Many policy say they will cover up to a certain amount of after market stereo equipment.

I do not have a modified car, so this is just my opinion.

People have been modifying/restoring/fixing up cars for many decades now. It is a major industry. It has been very popular from the early 70's until now. I have never heard of or even read on-line about cars not being covered after an accident for there stock replacement value or damage/injury they have done to someone else. I have heard about people not being renewed or given insurance if there car is modified "too" much.

If you have a modified car and want the parts to be covered under insurance you will need to get an appraisal done and that appraisal given to the insurance company. This makes total sense to me. Lets say after your car is stolen you want the insurance to pay for your high end engine parts, suspension parts, wheels, etc.... How does the insurance company know your telling the truth and even if you are telling the truth why would they pay out way more to you because you decided to spend money on parts?

I did a search for you a found this.

These VW guys seem to have no problems getting there engine swapped turbo added cars appeased and then insured.
