coolant flushing?

i went to get my oil changed and the mechanic said i need to flush my coolant line. i know i can do this myself, where do i get the supplies and where do i take the coolant that i flush out? i know it should be taken to a specific place bc it is bad for animals if you just let it spill out on the ground. and HOW is this done?

yes i will still do it. i am a car person anyway. i love cars, but still learning

To flush the coolant, just loosen the larger lines that go in and out of the engine, one on top, one on bottom. Afterwards, just drain the old antifreeze into a drip pan, and spray a hose into the top tube that goes into your radiator. Afterwards, take the old antifreeze to a dump in the hazardous waste place...
