adjustable cam gear

i dont think so
ummm, he kinda did give u an answer, simply put. D-series are not worth the build, at least not naturally aspirated. you can go turbo, but once again your better off with at least a B16, or larger. for your question... i doubt theres any real benifits from advancing the timing on a single overhead cam, because you'll be advancing your exhaust timing as well, unfortunately your overlap is fixed and can't b altered, and thats kinda what your after. my suggestion, scrap the D for a B.

Pretty funny. Last time I checked an adjustable cam is'nt to bad. And as for ditching the d for a b. Why for the money you spend droping in a b series which by the way everybody on earth had done to death, you can build a kick *** d from the bottom up throw on a turbo and then go smoke some punk b's and still have money leftover. That's what I did, and nothing's better then seeing the look on all those b series faces after they got smoked by a d. Not to menton parts are way cheaper to replace. D for life BITCH

if you don't have a performance cam, an adjustable cam gear is useless. there no lighter, and advancing your stock motor only adds more heat, and heat is the enemy when making power. and as stated your overlap is unchangable so not only will it run hotter it makes the exhaust flow horribly.
EXP. my friend had on put on his 99 si (D16Y8) he advanced his stock cam and he got beat by a 97 CX (STOCK) with a shitty driver.
Adj. cam gears are useless on stock D series motor unless u have a cam.
