2002 Honda Civic SI - Epitome of Form
Sometimes when people build cars, they build it with some sort of vision in mind. Sometimes people just build another car for the pure enjoyment of it, to be the first, to be original, to be one of THE only cars out there to do it. Sometimes people are fortunate enough to have all the good parts, the best hookups, and the right skills to build a car as Shawn Hillier has. What you see before you, is probably going to be the most well put together, Honda Civic Si ever seen. Or should we say the perfect left hand drive EP3-R.
Ahh, yes… Up until 2002 the infamous b-series have roamed and ruled the streets. That is of course until the new k-series motor were unleashed into almost all of Honda's new line up of vehicles. With the emergence of the new Si, Shawn Hillier already had his mind set on picking up the latest Honda had to offer. Asthetically, well, let's just say it isn't the most appealing car out in the market, but it does have it's potential and with this new platform comes a whole new world of aftermarket parts under the hood. Realizing just after 2 months of owning the vehicle Shawn decided the motor had to go due to the lack in horsepower and torque. He was fortunate enough to come across a RHD DC5-R clip that of course which had the ITR K20R motor. So out goes the 160hp Si motor and in goes the ITR. From there, the parts just came flooding on this car. Sheng from jdmhondaparts.com supplied Shawn with most of the parts you seen currently on this vehicle, and almost immediately this car caught the attention of many show goers, judges as well as the jtuned staff. The car has only been in 4 shows and each and every time the car has taken a new look, more extreme, more better (lack of better words). Shawn is obviously no newcomer to the Honda community, he currently still owns another Civic hatchback, which prior to this one was featured in a previous issue of Import Tuner. That as well as his newest member of the family expressed the same originality and has given an impact to the import community from the street level all the way to American Honda Motor Corporation, which has recognized Shawn's car as one of the best built Si's on the market today. Never did I think a civic hatchback could pull off 18s like this one has, have no body decals, no crazy lines, and be so loud at the same time. With this type of combination, you just can't go wrong.
