First off, it's a 10 year old car which means A LOT of engine problems.
Secondly it has almost 250k miles on it, most Hondas are only good for 200k.
It's a lot of money because
1.) It doesn't have much life to it left
2.) You'll have to spend almost double on repairs when it finally breaks down.
Look in Craig's List and get a beater for $300 bucks, save up the rest of the cash to put as a down payment on a better vehicle when your budget looks better. I know you're excited about it, Honda's where THE car when I was a senior in high school, but if you really want it and can afford the repair costs than talk them down to $800 or so. Also go on carfax and look up to see if it's been in any accidents. A lot can happen to a car in 10 years so you want to make sure you're going to get your money's worth.
How far will you drive it?
What's the roads like? A lot of snow?
How long do you need it for?
You need something reliable and a 10 year old car with an engine about to die will last you probably 2 months. There's a reason they're selling it, find out why. Have your mechanic inspect it (if you trust them) and find out what repairs are needed automatically. Is it already inspected? Are the stickers on it current?

The mileage is really high! Honda's are really good cars but with that kind of mileage you might just be throwing your money away. The only reason I would buy that thing is if I was going to put a new or rebuilt engine, and alot of new parts to make it something feasible to drive.I am sure you can find something else within your price range. My family has been in the used car business for well over 40 yrs. Even though I am a nurse I did run the business for a time and still while my brother is out of town. I can tell you now, as a dealer I would never buy that vehicle. I don't care how cherry it might look.
