Question What is your long term car goal?

You know when you finally reach a point when you can say your done with your car? My final goal would do a build on an LT1 and turn into a 383 stroker with about 200-300 shot of nitrous. Then I would take the LT1 out of my car (the engine that came with my car) and then add an LE2 head and cam package (around 410-425 RWHP) and leave the stock internals (which are good for about 500 hp anyway). Then I would take that engine and drop it in an S10 Extreme (single cab of possible) with a low rear end. Then I would get a trailer and use it to tow my car. Both the truck, my car, and the trailer would be painted matching DuPont pearl (think arctic white with a shimmer) with pearl flames. On the weekend I could go out with my truck with car in tow, the S10 could handle the imports, Stang GT's, and the average LS1. If a new retro Cobra, ZO6, heavy modded 98+ F-Body, or if a Viper wants to play I would just drop the car down and spray like crazy. So what would be considered your final car setup?

To be honest with you i think im going to get my car at about 400hp then stop. Because anything past that i will have to start changing other things so it can handle the horsepower. Currently right now it's at about 310-320. All i need is Throttle body, runners, injectors, and a few other mods and i should be pretty close.

i'm going to do the cam and valvetrain, heads, then intake and exhaust, minor fuel system mods and the ignition mods i have now, some pretty mild drivetrain mods and a decent system inside, then some nice red lowering springs...thats about it...

when i sell this in a year or two ima probably get an LT1, tear the whole motor out, bore the block out .030 over and get a stroker crank and some forged rods and .030 over forged pistons, then some heads, maybe LT4 heads and cam, then why not, LT4 intake. then a vortech (or maybe powerdyne cuz theyre internally belt driven...nice n quiet) supercharger and some LTs and an offroad Y pipe with some kinda catback...then i was thinking of ditching the opti and getting the individual coilpack system and then a high flow fuel pump and bigger injectors...then a nice nitrous kit, 150 hp probably...then a 12-bolt rear and aluminum driveshaft...and maybe 3.73s.

wow i did all that off the top of my head and i dont even own an LT1

Everyone loves the 383 combo. On a different note, I wonder how quick an S10 would be with 410 - 425 RWHP anyway?

uh...like...11 seconds.

but yeah 383 is popular, but i really wanna do a 396. i've seen an LT1 with it before, but i cant find any cranks for a 396.

My long term goal? Sell my car and buy an M3 or S500. My next car is gonna be a luxury car. I'm gonna kill myself with fast cars. I want a black M3 with some nice 19"s on them or an S500 with some 20"s. That's DEFINATELY my long term car goal. If we're speaking about the cars we have right now, I'd saying buying a Rossler 4L60E tranny, spraying 100 shot, a nice 226/228 cam. That'd satisfy me very well, I don't think i'd need anything more than that.

my "short term" goal, is to have a low 12 maybe high 11 second car before i get out of high school. I still need to find a car to do this with. so i have approximately... a little bit more than 2 years.

Since I am not all that big into drag racing, I don't really want to spray the hell outa my car or make it to where I cannot drive it on a daily basis if I want to (although I am currently looking for something else to drive to keep the miles low on the LS1). I'd like to have it in the 400-450 HP range, and then concentrate on appearance and audio (I am at 335 to the wheels at the moment). I would like some iForged wheels or something similar, along with a new paint job (either completely change the color - perhaps to candy apple red, or keep the black and add ghost flames or something). That, along with a molded Xenon body kit and custom targa top (along with other assorted goodies), it what I would really like to do.

Nothing to radical to be honest.

Performance:
Heads/Cam maybe a good set of 5.3 liter heads
LSX intake
LT Headers
3.73's
Maybe a turbo, I've come very close to ordering one several times in the past week so we'll see.

Looks:
Custom VFN ss hood
SS spoiler
lowered 1.5-1.75"
tinted windows

Interior:
White faced guages
Most of my old Camaro's interior installed in my LS1

Susp.
Lowering spings
Blisten shocks
Susp. Tech.'s antisway bars
BMR boxed subframe's
LCA
Adjustable PHB

That's what I can think off the top of my head, I'm sure there'll be more.
I don't plan on making it a race car or a show car but a good looking fast car that can be driven daily. I'd be happy with 450hp to be honest.

Same Crank as the 383 dude, you just have to bore it a lot more to get a 396. I'm going to take rice's suggestion and just go with a 383, if I blow it then I upgrade to a 396.
