Trip Permit
Ok, so I've been getting conflicting replies on my 10 day trip permit and the MTO is closed today so I can't very well ask them.
My old car is a Chrysler LHS which is still insured with my insurance compnay
My new car is a Cavalier wich is not insured by my insurance company yet
I got a 10 trip permit from the MTO for my cavalier. Now the question is, did the MTO lady screw up and give me the trip permit or is my Cavalier temp insured as of right now? I myself have insurance but the Cavalier does not until Tuesday.

got this off of mto's website ...
http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dandv/vehicle/temp.htm
To apply for a trip permit, take the following items to any Driver and Vehicle Licence Issuing Office:
* your original fit vehicle permit;
* if the permit is not registered in your name, a Bill of Sale from the person named on the permit to you, if available;
* if the vehicle is registered as unfit, a Safety Standards Certificate (SSC) is also required;
* name of your insurance company and policy number.
so i think they require and assume you have insurance when you goto them, besides, i've never heard of mto insurance before anyways.

Well my issue was, for something I thought the car would have to be registered before I could get it insured and I thought to register it I'd have to pass the safety and etest. So that's what I did but when I went to the MTO to register the car the lady was really confused that I had a trip permit but no actual insurance on the vehicle. The jerks at my insurance company took Saturday off because of the long weekend so I guess I'll just play it safe and wait till Tuesday
