Stage 1,2,3 .... question
#8
You asked.
Why the :supergay:
I'm not the idiot that thinks Stage 1,2,3 is some sort of HP rating system. It's just a name given to certain performance levels by manufacturers and has no direct reflection on horsepower output.

Stage 1,2,3 is just levels of tuning, no universal acceptance of hp gain. every garage and company does it differently. And for every car it willbe different.
Ex. hp difference stage 1 and stage 2 in Mustangs and hondas. compleatly hp gains. every garage is different to rate "their" upgreid kits.

HAHAHA..it's so true.
It depends on the manufacturer. The whole 'stage' thing is blown way out of proportion.
Try using www.google.com once in a while. It's a great tool.

best stage story:
my freind was doing co-op in highschool, and he did it at some random auto place. the co-op fair came around, so he wanted to make an attention/ricer grabbing presentation
asked me to bring over some stuff, so i grabbed a few bigg turbos, a dohc head, intercooler, nitrous bottle, etc, eye candy really
one rat looking comes up to the table, "what stage is this turbo?"
"stage? what do you mean?"
"like which stage, 1, 2, 3..?"
"i dont know what you mean, but its a garret gt35 with a gt40 compressor, if thats what youre asking"
"no man, like, stage 1 is 10 psi, stage 2 is 20 psi, stage 3 is 30psi, get it?"
"umm, ok..."
i didnt even bother going into it with him, he was a lost cause
the whole stage thing is something ricers pick up in magazines and too much gran turismo, thinking it has some actual relevance to real performance mods. as mentioned, its used by independant companies to describe different levels of trim of certain parts of packages
i.e. greddy might sell a basic turbo kit for a sir. its called stage 1, makes 180whp
then they offer the same kit, but slightly bigger turbo, better fuel management 200whp, and they call it the stage 2 now
stage 3, they make it even bigger and better, and you get the idea
