Need help from a tuning shop in toronto to test my piggyback unit
Hi,
I am working on a piggyback unit, currently I am putting in support for toyota models that have a karman vortex sensor and a COP ignition system. I need to hook up with a shop to finish testing my unit.
Here is what i can provide:
-Piggyback unit for free (the unit does fuel correction, Ignition correction, wideband control, boost control and datalogging)
-I will do the install for free
-I will provide support for free
Here is what I need:
-A tuning shop that is in toronto
-A tuning shop that tunes alot of toyota supras
-has customers that are willing to give my piggyback a try
-Has time for me to come in for a few hours to install the unit and test the unit.
If you are a shop owner that is interested in helping me out please pm me. I will provide further information about my unit and a website address for my product.
After I install the unit I will provide the PC software to tune the unit and teach the shop how to tune my unit.
I also have interest in testing my piggyback on cars other than toyota supras that have a karman vortex sensor and/or COP ignition systems.
This is not in anyway advertisement for my piggyback unit, I really need a few test cars to finish up my work.

This is a real piggyback unit, it does not alter the code of the ecu in anyway.
It intercepts the MAP/MAF/Karman signal going to the ECU to control fuel and it intercepts the ignition signal from the ecu to the ignitor/coil to control ignition.

I was able to talk to paul of neetronics, he seemed to be a great guy. However he is developing his own piggyback unit much like mine, so I am have reservations about hooking up with his shop.
myspys.ca, the owner does mostly very high end stuff so he is not interested in piggyback units.

And while I know that he is working on his own system, from what he's explained to me his is a little more complex then your system... then again, I don't know exactly what you've made so far.

Well Paul is supposed to call me this week to talk more about things. I am sure he has reservations about working with me too, there is great opportunity for us to help each other and also great opportunity for us to screw each other.
It looks like Paul is going more of the emange route; directly controlling the injectors where as I am doing taking the apexi route; manipulating the MAP voltage. Apparently his design requires quite a massive amount of processing power, for what reason I have no idea but I am very curious as to the need for such power. I am guessing that he is putting in some kind of complex knock sensing or adding in a high resolution LCD, because those are the only things I can think of that would require a large amount of processing power.
Please keep the suggestions comming guys.

The MAF translator pro and mine look very similar on paper however there are many key differences.
Advantages of My piggyback:
-mine has 600 tuning points (20 MAP/MAF/KV x 30 RPM) vs 42 (3 MAP/MAF x 14 RPM)
-Mine has 3 memory banks for 3 independent sets of tunes, these tunes will be selectable anytime, even while the vehicle is running.
-I do not think the MAF translator supports Karman vortex type airflow sensors, mine does.
-Mine has a 600 point ignition retard table (20 MAP/MAF/KV x 30 RPM) which will work for all car models, the MAF translator pro only can control spark on "DSMChips equipped cars with this feature activated, and Buick GN's running the Extender Pro chips only"
-Mine integrates a wideband controller onboard, the MAF translator pro requires an external wideband controller to log AFRs.
-Both of ours can control boost with an external boost solenoid installed, I am making mine to work with the $20 GM typhoon boost solenoid. With the MAF translator pro you need to pay $70 for their solenoid.
-Mine will support Real time tunning.
-I will be pricing my unit @199 (this will not support Karman vortex sensors and will not support Coil on plug ignition systems). For a version that supports Karman vortex sensors and Coil on plug ignition systems I will charge $299 for it.
Disadvantages of my piggyback vs MAF translator pro:
-no lcd
-currently does not control fueling based on feedback from wideband O2 sensor, I am planning on implementing this when I have more time.
-Mine will look alot more ugly than the MAF translator pro.
-My PC software will look like complete ***, because I do not know object oriented programming.
I am certain that there are many more differences but I just listed what I thought were the biggest differences. Overall I still think mine should offer better bang for the buck and also will have much wider appeal since the MAF translator pro only supports sparking on a very few number of models.

Interesting. I like the 3 tune selections and 600 is a lot of tuning points for a piggyback.
The maftpro doesn't support karman vortex, but since it can use map/maf why keep the stock karman vortex sensor anyways? My supra which uses karman vortex ran fine using a GM maf and the translator.

Hi Adam,
To me support of karman vortex sensors is more for completeness and the fact that I can truely claim to have a universal solution. I hope my future customers will appreciate that I am trying to do all that is possible reduce the cost of ownership of my product, putting in KV support is part of that effort. My piggyback will also support the translation between different sensor types, so you could get rid of the KV sensor and use a MAF/MAP sensor or vice versa.
600 tuning points is the lower threshold of the unit, that number was based on an old design. The new design should have atleast 900 tuning points. The limit of 3 tunes is based on the fact that the LED I use can only flash 3 different colors, I will in the future offer an lcd upgrade which will enable well over 10 complete sets of tunes.
I am really dying to find a shop that is willing to work with me, I have so many other design to test out and I really need to get this piggyback out of the way for 2006.
