Unhappy my experience with the TV show WAR OF THE WHEELS

the show is 2 cars 2 teams you build the cars and best looking best interior and fastest car wins the show...

this show it was 2 neons, i myself am a mechanic and have worked on alot of cars so when i was asked to work on the show i had a choice vw or neon, i took the neon since i thought it was something i am not so familiar with and would be a challenge. i had fun we put a custom header on it intake and t-body and NOS system and and exhaust. we tried to put an intake manifold on but it wouldn't fit , never mind how bad the t-body fit...LOL

the other team did a turbo, i can only talk about the mechanical and the race part since that is what i did.

alot of the show was un-organized unfortuanatly but we were the first show so it was understandable.

the way the race was setup was wrong but that is the way it goes, you get 3 passes, 1st one is a practice, 2nd one is the race NO MATTER WHAT, 3rd is to make sure they got all there shots.

well what happens is you run first 2 races at the same time while the other team whatches and thats were happens, first pass we went 15.0 not bad i used the NOS 2nd and 3rd gear, 2nd pass the money pass i launch hard but then i shift 2 second and theres nothing? finaly i find a gear only 4th goes in, it runs 19 something, i figure i broke something in the trans, after looking it was just the shift lincage, i got it fixed and thought maybe they will let me re-do it, i will explain later why they should have. they said no , thats the rules so the other team runs they runs a high 16 sec pass and win the race portion blowig there motor , so we go for our last pass and we run a 14.6 pretty good but doesn't count, the other team couldn't even drive there car it was done.

so we lost, thats racing , but the problem i have is that not one part of there build got finished, and the stuff that did get finished was from OUTSIDE help , i mean some things was not there fault but, they were given alot of help, even i helped them , wich was not a problem , i would rather race someone then knowone. the way it was scored was body , interior and audio and mechanical, then the race,
the body we only won by 2 points when our body work was done by us and came out better ALOT BETTER, there body work was soley done by a body shop, the interior and audio we lost by 1 point when nothing in there system worked at the time, NOTHING, there interior had more "work" done but it didn't look that good. we lost on the mechanical which is right they did a turbo kit and had to pull the motor they deserved it.

so at that point we were already losing even before the race started....wich was a shock, i figured they would win since they won the race but i thought it would have been close,

SO after there car would have looked like if the body shop didn't fix and paint it for them, the audio didn't work, and there car wouldn't have run if it weren't for outside help, our shift linckcage came off and they wouldn't let me do a re-run , thats the thanks i got for helping when knowone else was around....so when the show air's in october or november i just wanted to set a few things straight, there is more but this post is way too long. i had fun we had the fastest best looking and best sounding car and still lost....

it went 14.6 and it was breaking up in 3rd then did nothing in 4th gear, it burned a few spark plugs they didn't get me the ones i wanted , it was a single cam so it was pretty fast for what was done. it was 14.6 at 86 mph it was doing 76 at the 1/8th mile so it would have easily been a low 14 if it would have been smooth.
