Laws on LEMON cars...
I'm surprised this topic wasnt discussed before...
Anyway, I just wanna know if there are any laws here in toronto that protect me just in case I accidentally buy a lemon car. I heard that 1 out of 10 cars in a used car lot is a lemon. Maybe more now since there are "flood cars" that just come across the border and wind up in used car lots.

No lemon laws protecting you around here man. At the end of the day, get it certified, e-tested at your shop, not the sellers. Make sure the seller provides the DMV package.
Obviously check for the regular wear and tear. What kind of car are you looking at?
I mean, if its a civic im sure tons of people can tell you what to look for.
Me, i prefer to do the follow:
Let the car sit and idle
Drive it, semi aggressive.
Make left and right turns, a bit of highway.
Return, let the car idle a bit
Try all the electronic controls etc.
Put the car through its paces.

^^^^ thats some good advice
only i would say is for YOU to do the VIN check through the DMV (the buyers package thing). that way, the seller cant forge anything or whatnot, but its around 21.00. im my opinion, its damn well worth it... saved me from buying a car that was rolled back (odo)
