Jaguar XJS v-12
#17
How about you give us a pic or two of that car, I love those jags and especially the V-12 models. It will be a pain to maintane, but it is a nice ride and extremly classy, if you can afford it, go for it. I drive an SC400 and everyone gives me about the amount of gas it sucks back, and amount it costs to fix, but riding something like that is worth it all. If anything, talk to a few guys at a jag shop and see what they say in terms of getting some stuff done to it, look around at some forums on jags and you will get some better info.
Good luck and stay original

V12 is V12, not many people have it on the road.It is not Ferrari's V12, yet still v12. Laxury, good thing too. Some prestige you get with that car, it is Jag none the less. Styling, put some good rims, and you will look good. I personally like styling of the old Jags.
I agree with you on the part that older Jags are not "driver's car" , but may be he isn't looking for that. Let him get the car running, fix it up, drive a bit, and then let him tells us his feelings.

Think about it... the Jag is probably an automatic tranny car... now I personally don't know how strong their trannys are but I doubt they're all too strong, since most older autotrannys aren't... especially on import cars.
So figure a V12 that "could" probably take a healthy dose of nitrous on a car that you say isn't a drivers car... ok... well, he's gonna do that tranny in real fast I'll bet you any money... then how are the brakes on tho's boats? suspension?
you can't just add power/speed without taking care of other aspects of "performance" and if you do eventually you'll find yourself in a lot of trouble.
If the guy chooses to go with the car, hey fine by me... Just warning him in advance that things would get expensive and unless all he plans on doing with it is cruise, otherwise don't bother.
As for the looks part... they look ok, but that's a very subjective subject when it comes to any car.

NOW, we are talking. AS I was saying and agreing with you, Jag is NOT the best car to modify. what I was simply telling him are the posabilities (, can't spell) .
You are on MAX, and have seen that guys from Turkey, achived a 900hp M3 goal. Even DTMs do not have such power (444hp, ok lets even say 500hp).
So whatis the point? The point is to do something that nobody else have done, to find the boundary, the limit. And it is not cheap to modify even an 80's 3 series.
May be same with this Jag, as crazy as it sounds, what if the guy wants to modify it? I am just showing the posabilities he might achive and surpass them.
I bet the idea of 10sec old Dodge Caravan turbo sounder very stupid, none the less, it has been done.
I am just cheering this guy up. :thumbsup
But still, as NOTORIOUS VR said, it is going to be money sucker, and very difficult to modify, as there is no much aftermarket for Jags. Peace to evryone.
