Jaguar XJS v-12
Hey guys, I just acquired a free Jaguar XJS V-12 :thumbsup - The only problem is that it has been sitting in my garage for 4 years without being run. I have a budget to spend on the car, and i want to get it running and do a lil work the car to make it look nice again. I was wondering if anyone knows where i can get parts for the car, such as springs and struts, also, if anyone knows a good shop to have the car towed too. The car itself isnt in bad shape, it could use some paint, and obviously to get running, but i dont forsee that to be a problem as it only has 70,000kms on it.
any help would be great, thanks.

yea, i know all too well how much they are to maintain, but the car has been in our family since new, and aside from the fact (major fact at that) that it isnt running, the car is in great shape, it had a lot of work done to it before it went into storage, so i might as well keep it, its not worth it to sell - especially since it was free to me

Keep it. there is a vidoe of Top Gear, how they take a stock old rusted Jag V12, put NOS on it and quater mile it agains Porsche, Ferrary, NSX, and other fast cars.
Jag wooped their *** with just NOS. I don't know what was behind the scene, but that is what they are "saying": Stock V12 Jag + NOS = Exotic car killer.
It is very easy to find on the net, and it is small vid.

Shuller, you have to start thinking outside the box... with all the time you spend on the net, i would have thought u would at least use some comonsense.
Older Jag's are horrible when it comes to reliability... Parts are going to be expensive, and maintenance is going to be a bitch.
These are cars that you keep if you have a little bit of money to throw away for a money pit car. Eventually you'll have wiring problems, if it doesn't already and if you decide to drive it in any sporty fashion you'll see that you're just going to throwing money into the car that u'll never get back.
Plus IMO they're not even very nice good looking cars, but that's a different chapter all together.

jag manitenance costs are high and it will probably cost you a pretty penny to do suspension and brakes on that vehicle.

LOL the kids looking for advice on how to get the car just running and shuller goes on about NAWZ!
Considering you got the car for free and it is literally a nightmare to maintain and keep the car running properly its all up to you.
If you feel like spending the time fixing the car(your probably going to spend more hours fixing the Jag rather than driving it) then go for it. But if dont have the time or money for parts I would give it a new paint job, get it running and sell it!
You'd probably make a nice profit too!

Its great to see all the support everyone on this site is giving me for this Jag The car will be running soon, and i have the financial backing to get it going. It would seem that no one around here likes V12 jags.

so if you have any intention on driving it hard, don't. It'll just end up costing you a ton of money.
And don't forget, just because it's a V12 doesn't mean it'll be fast... they're heavy cars, which will translate into poor gas mileage if you have a heavy foot.
The V12 was used because it's a smooth motor with some extra grunt.

HA HA HA NOTORIOUS VR and GLI, you are small priks. I dealed with a Jags a bit, I know they have some problems, but I am not GIVING him advice on to install a NOS or modify it.
I am giving him idea of some of the posabilities(sp) OTHER people ahve done. He have seen one end of prospective: your blame on Jags horrible perfomance, electrical problems and other crap. Now, let him hear the "other" side, something more positive and cheering:
V12 is V12, not many people have it on the road.It is not Ferrari's V12, yet still v12. Laxury, good thing too. Some prestige you get with that car, it is Jag none the less. Styling, put some good rims, and you will look good. I personally like styling of the old Jags.
I agree with you on the part that older Jags are not "driver's car" , but may be he isn't looking for that. Let him get the car running, fix it up, drive a bit, and then let him tells us his feelings.
