I think my engine locked up!
I tried to crank my car today after its been sitting for 2 months because of ignition problems..and the motor would not crank at all.I had a fully charged battery and the starter is good.and when i cranked the car the battery volts went from 11 to below 8 everytime, and it made that ticking sound. So i decided to get a breaker bar and socket and tried to manually turn over the engine and it would move, hell i even tried pushing the car and nothing happened..so now i think im screwed because how in the hell can the engine seize when it wasnt running.Im thinkin it has something to do with oil pump because i thought when u crank the car the pressure should build up,but instead the needle stays at zero.I Need help :banghead:

So with the breaker bar the engine would turn? If so it isnt locked up. Drop the starter and see if you turn the ignition over it turns. You said you hear a click, it sounds as though it is trying to move the starter but doesn't engage. I had a problem similiar, car wouldn't do anything. I pulled up to the gas station, got a few things, came back out an car wouldn't do anything. Just a click. So called a tow truck to take it home, looked it over in the garage, said Hell, i'll try it one more time, turned the key fired right up. Never did find out WTF happened, that was a year ago, nothing since.

does the battery voltage return when you let off the key? Sounds like you have a bad battery to me. If the engine is on a compression stroke you may not be able to get enough leverage to turn it over

Pop out a couple plugs, if not all of them and try and turn it over. That way you won't be on a compression stroke.
I hope its not locked up, thats gonna put a serious dent in the old pocket...

i just brought a brand new battery a few weeks ago and i had someone give me a jump when i was trying to start it.I dont understand how the engine can lock up since i havent driven it in months. When i was having the ignition problems i was constantly cranking over the engine, and then i let it sit for a couple of weeks now the motor doesnt move at all.

well the engine wouldnt completely lock up if it was stationary for 100 years...well maybe then it might if there was condensation and it rusted and then it might...but it shouldnt.
you've probably got a bad starter or a bad battery ground or something like that. the engine itself is fine.

today i got the car to crank but it sounds like the pistons is scraping the cylinder walls and its making a squeakin noise.Like i said before i think my oil pump went out.Anyway i deciding whether or not to keep the car or sell it for a ss camaro,or a few other cars i thinkin about like 95 civic coupe or a pontiac grand prix gtp.But what im really might do is try to figure out how to get the car in a shop and wait until the 2nd week in may and a bike.
