Do you use a radar detector?
Hi,
I was wondering, do people generaly use radar detectors in Toronto? I was already cought with one (140$ fine and the radar) and got myself another one. It saved my @$$ too many times to count, so I prolly won't be able to live without it.
I only use it on Highways I figured, that's the only place it'll mae a difference.

? so can the cop pick up the rays your radar is emiiting

Well depends. The old radar detectors can be detected the new ones have this thing called the "VG2" witch automaticly shuts the unit off if it feels like someone tries to detect it. It only happened once, it was at Bayview and Sheppard, the cops were just a few meters down.

OPP have a radar detector detector. They have a device in there car that beeps and lets them know someone close by has a radar detector. Once the cop gets closer or behind the subject it beeps faster and faster until its almost at a solid beep, thats how they know you have one. then they pull u over, and well your done.
the worst place to use it is the highway. OPP will catch you sooner or later.

so i would suggest you only use them on highways, but if you're going to buy a cheap one for like 200 then don't bother throwin your money away. Plus i believe that the cops have to provide their own radars so it all depends how much they're willing to spend..

I am a Auxiliary police officer for the OPP, and i have been on at least 80 ride alongs, and will one day be a officer, trust me, they will catch you regardless on how much you spent. They just dont always have it on. It doesnt matter what you paid for it, it still gives off the same rf signal waves as the other ones. Buddy, your not smarter then cops, stop trying.

I read somewhere that statistically there were around 150,000 of them in german army in WW2.
I don't see problems with cops being on this forum. It's public and on the Internet. If you post something on a public forum be sure that anyone can and will read it. The good thing is that cops can post usefull info.
