Buying a jaguar
Ever since last summer when I saw an old dude with a SBC powered 2 door jaguar ive been considering one
something along the lines of this:

well its nothing too special, like i think the stock numbers for my 1990 V12 is like 280hp and 320tq, but dont quote me on that. and as far as sound, put an exhaust on it and it would sound amazing . . . .but thats just my oppinion. there is no way id ever do the swap on my jag, i would only swap out the tranny (3spd auto) for a 5spd or 6spd manual. and you are right, it is a car that is prone to problems, but thats what u have to expect when u purchase an old jag. if you dont really have money to put into it, its not the car to be getting.
DONT DO A SBC!!!!!!!!!!! it bastardizes the car

do an SBC, the stock V12's are garbage and electrical/mechanical nightmares to work on from what ive heard. nothing but problems. if you want to keep it "original" and hold its value then yes keep it stock.
So what if u bastardize the "jag" your making it better and probably lighter and faster. that V12 probably weighs a lot more compared to a 350. Plus more reliable too

Jag engine conversion
hello, I am new to this site. However, I own a 2001 Jaguar XJR - V8 supercharged. It has an Eaton supercharger. Made some small mod, like ported & polish heads, upgraded pulley, ecu, custom air intake, and custom exhaust, removed the second set of resonator from the exhaust. THe car is quiet, but has a deep growl when you accelerate. Its about 400hp. Yes, jaguar is expensive to maintain.
I do have a project Jaguar , I inherited from my dad. Its a 1963 Jaguar E type XKE, but I swapped a 350 chev with a 4-speed rock crusher tranny. It runs great. In the eighties, the V8 swaps were popular. people were putting a V8 into their jaguars. I have also seen a 302 Ford V8 in a 4 dr. jag. Its a great swap, I would recommend the engine swap - GM reliability with jaguar handling.

Check out www.jagsthatrun.com and www.johnscars.com, both of these sites specialized in V8 conversions, they have a full illustration of parts that you will need for a conversion, right down to the ac unit. check it out....

SBC? Its only the winningest motor platform in motorsports history....
They do very well in 944's as well. Id love to own a renegade motorsports 944 v8 conversion day. Handling/braking by porsche with lots of reliable chevy power.
