aint it funny
all these posts about coolant leaks, cracked radiator tanks, and now i find myself in the same pickle.
yet unlike the rest of you, i work in the field whereas most of you would pay almost 200 to fix such a problem, i only pay 60 to have it done in a timely manner. shops get special treatment
and since my crank seal is leaking, i figure i can do it now...so being in the field...look what i got for 10.68:

and matt...its something like 3 hours.
i actually pulled a grant tonight. took everything off in about 2 hours then decided to take a break while im in here im gonna change my timing chain too. its got tons of slack...more than i expected at nearly 70k. so tomorrow after i drop off my radiator i'll pick up a timing chain...16.88 btw

unfortunately no. i keep saying, damn this is the perfect time. just 28 more bolts (intake and rockers) and i can do a cam...but unless someone wants to donate...i dont have the dough for a new cam. that will come later...

well what was yours? mines a cracked tank...
anyway i cant necessarily get an aftermarket cam for cheap. for that i'd need the owner to use his reseller's license and he would charge me more to get a cut...yeah...hes an ***.
besides im not ready for something like that, i want basic bolt ons first.

Dont know exactly what it was, Im assuming it was the water pump, but I changed the water pump, the lower hose, 2 gallons of coolant, and this little gay plastic elbow all for around 70... Much less than I thought it was going to be.

yeah that aint bad. the tank however is the side of the radiator. it is pressed on so to speak. i could get the tank and change it myself, but its a pain in the ***...so i'll just pay someone to get it done in half the time and done right.

ye that gay little plastic elbow you speak off caused me to pull my entire upper and lower intake plenum cause i didnt even know that pipe was there.. it was cracked and leaking and i thought my lower intake gasket was shot.. wasnt till about 14 hours into the project that i figured out the real problem.. o well with over 150k miles it wasnt a bad idea to replace all the engine gasket

I think that gasket might be slightly leaking on mine also now that I looked at it.. Its not enough to matter tho I dont think... My coolant leak is gone. But yeah, Im glad someone on ftv6 mentioned that elbow... Mine didnt appear to be leaking, but the o-ring looked a little wore... it was only $3 and I had it apart, couldnt hurt to change it after 100k.
